What's New Winter 2025-26
Big Sky Resort is a world-class destination in the heart of Montana's mountains, where wide-open spaces and the iconic Lone Peak create an unforgettable winter experience. Rising 4,350 vertical feet above the valley and culminating at the 11,166-foot summit, Lone Peak offers 300 degrees of skiing across 5,850 acres of diverse terrain. Known for having North America's most technologically advanced lift network, Big Sky is quickly making a name for itself as a top luxury resort offering superior lodging and dining options.

Kircliff: Glass Observation Deck at the top of Lone Peak
Kircliff, perched at 11,166 feet, is a marvel of modern architecture and engineering. For the first time ever, any guest, any age—pedestrian or skier—can experience Lone Peak from this stunning glass enclosure.
Guests begin their journey at the base of the resort with the new Explorer Gondola, before connecting directly to the Lone Peak Tram. Inside, visitors are surrounded by unobstructed 360-degree views spanning three states, two national parks, and countless mountain ranges. The most thrilling element lies beneath your feet—a transparent glass floor that creates the sensation of floating above Big Sky's legendary extreme terrain. Opening to the public on December 20, 2025, Kircliff redefines what it means to experience Montana's high country.

Explorer Gondola Unlocking Pedestrian Access to Lone Peak
After three summers of construction, the new Explorer Gondola will complete Big Sky’s base-to-summit lift network in the final chapter of Big Sky 2025. The Explorer Gondola replaces the last original chairlift from 1973, the Explorer double chair. The massive upgrade unlocks the 11,166-foot summit of Lone Mountain to pedestrians in winter for the first time in the resort’s history. Since the Big Sky 2025 Vision was announced in 2016, the resort has transformed to become home to North America’s most technologically advanced chairlift network. The debut of the Explorer Gondola in December 2025 will mark the resort’s thirteenth lift project in ten years.
